In continuous efforts to fix what has turned out to be a disastrous run for the Halo: Master Chief Collection, 343 Industries is having the next big patch beta tested before releasing it to the public later this month. Since it’s release on November 11, 2014, Halo: Master Chief Collection has been dealing with severe problems regarding matchmaking and multiplayer issues. 343 Industries has been hard at work trying to fix the issues, having already sent out numerous patches to try and remedy them. Bonnie Ross, head of 343 Industries, sent out an apology to the fans laced with some goodies for those who bought the game and have played it.

343 Industries is hoping that this major patch will fixed the major matchmaking problems that have been plaguing the game since its release in November 2014.

From 343:

In recent weeks, we have been conducting extensive internal testing of an upcoming content update for Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Given the scale of the update, which includes changes to the matchmaking experience and party system, we are expanding testing to include select members of the Xbox One Preview program to ensure the official release is the best possible experience for all players.

This content update includes changes to the Halo: The Master Chief Collection matchmaking experience and party system. We will have more details to share as we get closer to the official release.

Those who are part of the Xbox One Preview Program, have a copy of the Halo: Master Chief Collection, and has a chance to be selected as participants in the beta testing that will begin on Friday, January 23rd and run until the 26th. Those with the “highest levels of engagement with Halo: Master Chief Collection will be invited to participate. As with any beta testing, 343 is hoping that participants will report any bugs through the Xbox One Preview app through extensive feedback. The studio states that they’re unsure of the size of the patch, but also say players should anticipate having 1-2 GBs of hard drive free.

At this time, there is no current release date set for the patch as they want to keep their focus on this weekend’s beta testing. Hopefully, should the beta patching prove to be successful, it doesn’t end up creating more bugs for the collection.
