Jake Rushing – Xenogears (PS1), Fire Emblem Fates Birthright (3DS)

Man, grinding and farming in RPGs isn’t fun. I am sure it will be worth it when I get to tear the final dungeon a new one in Xenogears. I am already halfway through the farming. I need a few more sessions to get the gold that I need to buy the sweet gear for the Gears. Maybe I will beat this game before next week. Stay tuned for that.

After finishing Inside, I am interested in going back to Fire Emblem after missing out on Fire Emblem games (aside from Fire Emblem Heroes here and there), so I figured that I want to attempt to finish out the Fire Emblem Fates storyline. I am starting out in Birthright and so far, I am getting hooked on the gameplay once again. Birthright is about just as fun as Awakening (so far at least). This makes me fall in love with the Fire Emblem series over again. It is fun for the fact that I am getting better at this game, since I haven’t had anybody died on me yet and I am already on Chapter 10. I am now tempted to try out the older Fire Emblem games once I am finished with the entire Fates storyline.

Terry Randolph – Persona 5 (Playstation 4), Battlefield 1 (Xbox One), Guardians of the Galaxy: Episode 2 (Xbox One)

This week has been a lot of running around and very little ability to play games. However, in the off chance I get to play any of the games I’m working, I’m going to maximize the play time as much as possible. I’m currently working on getting into the 4th Palace (or main mission) of Persona 5, so I’m excited to see what the level design is going to look like, as well as the difficulty level for the enemies. I think eventually I’m going to have to start coughing up more of the money I have in game and just get all better items click here (I’ve improved the melee and ranged weapons, but probably should work on armor). I’ll be writing a more in-depth review for Persona 5, but seriously this game is amazing.

When i’m not playing that, I’ll be playing Battlefield 1 with my friends on Xbox One and TellTale’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Episode 2. Battlefield 1 has been a lot of fun to play and pick up. I’m not that good at multiplayer games, and while I rage a lot playing this game, I’m enjoying playing it more than other multiplayer games (*cough* Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare beta *cough*). I’m really looking forward to how Episode 2 plays out for Guardians of the Galaxy since I felt like Episode 1 was pretty darn good (hyperlink my review to pretty darn good).

Sean Willis – Sonic CD (PC remaster), Sonic R (Gamecube/PC port)

Well I’ve been on a Sonic classic gaming kick since the new Sonic Mania trailer came out. The smooth animated intro reminded me so much of Sonic CD and sort of restored that exciting feeling I used to have about sonic games. Back when Sonic was cool just because, not cool cause trying way too hard. I loaded up some small mods for the intro videos to restore the wonderful vocals in the Japanese sound track and set about earning all the achievements in the game, again. Ya I bought it day one back when the remaster was new, I mean done by a well known guy in the fan game community I had to show some support. Grabbed a copy on everything I could. I mean its one of my most favorite sonic games, why not. I even still have the PC port from way back though I never owned the Sega CD version (or a Sega CD) so the PC port was nice with its slight updates and such. Still its fun to go back and play with the time travel mechanics and study the level design. It’s a little all over the place at times but each variant of the stages was made to work together rather well. Plus the music is great no matter if you pick the crazy Japanese tracks or more calmed US tracks.

Sonic R, ya, sonic racing, on foot. I know no one likes the vocals in it and its hard to get past the difficult controls but I loved it on the Saturn and it was made by Travelers Tales from before the Lego INSERT MOVIE HERE games and well, they had a certain sense of quality I’ve always enjoyed. Sure there are only five tracks but they had alternate paths and really plenty of characters if you can manage to unlock them all through lots of replaying. It was only two players back in the day but the Gamecube version included in Sonic Gems Collection has a four player split screen option. The PC port has LAN support but doubt anyone would want to do a LAN party for Sonic R of all things but its there. Oh they added weather effects too which is just a nice touch really. Still a game I’ve yet to return to in so very very long, now I just gotta see if I can convince three other players to actually learn the game long enough to play it. Good news though it works great in the Gamecube emulator Dolphin and that has some nice netplay options so I’ll have to give that a try one day. That or find a way to get the PC version to work over a virtual LAN heh. Probably just end up racing alone again.
