Sean Willis – Planet Explorers (PC) , Wasted (PC)

Planet explorers takes a good bit of resources to run and is a little clunky in its current early access form. Much like other survival games it takes a bit of dedicated time and resources when playing and at this point I kinda wanna wait it out for another update. I should try building in it though as it has a nice building system but perhaps next time.

Moving on to Wasted a game I hadn’t even tried to play due to how I disliked the overall look. I dunno what’s with indies and the chibi look combined with violence and gore. I just don’t understand how its appealing really. The toilet humor and cheesy attempt at 80s references/styles doesn’t help too much either though it’s not really an issue. Despite these issues I have with it the game is a bit of a fun roguelite/RPG, sort of a diet fallout in the roguelite setup. I plan to play some more and get through to at least mid way in the game to see what it has to offer as grinding the first stages doesn’t net a whole lot. Perhaps try to finish a recent Pokemon game for once before Sun and Moon comes around.

Terry Randolph – Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (Xbox One), Forza Horizon 3 (Xbox One), Wonderful 101 (Wii U), Dark Souls III (Xbox One)

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided was a sequel that kept me wanting more as it went on, and delivered on almost every expectation. Levels were intricate and fun to explore, providing several ways to approach the main objective. Games like this always keep me glued in even though I tend to be juggling multiple games around and never really completing any of them (like Just Cause 3 for example…or The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt…sigh).

Suffice to say, I’ve been enjoying playing Forza Horizon 3 with my roommate. It’s a nice departure from the heavy-handed games I’m often playing. I’ll also be playing some Wonderful 101 in hopes of either beating it or just getting further along. Finally, Dark Souls III because I have a friend who wants me to play with them online. Also, it’s been genuinely a fun experience to play. This is if I can find the time to squeeze in any sort of gaming at all. Only time will tell!

Marshall Garvey – Borderlands 2 (Xbox 360)

Sound the alarm: I’m finally playing something new! I’m as busy as ever with my new job, but I’m not letting that keep me from getting back into the gaming groove. First off, I finally, finally, finally (…finally….) beat the campaign of Aliens: Colonial Marines. It was a Herculean struggle on par with Ripley’s final battle with the Queen in the movie, but now that that hunk of shit has finally left my 360, I can not only finish the review at last…I can also finally play something new! Borderlands 2 has gotten the call, a fitting choice given it was of course made by Gearbox, the main creative force behind ACM. It’ll have to do a hell of a lot to wash the taste of Colonial Marines out of my mouth, but thus far I’m confident it will.
