While I was at GDC, I decided to take a stroll to GDC Play, where many Game Developers are looking to showcase their games in hopes of gaining more attention. I came across quite a bit of games, but there are few that I remembered from GDC Play. One of them was recommended to me by a friend, which I have decided to check for myself once I found it: Super Slam Dunk Touchdown.

Super Slam Dunk Touchdown is a multiplayer game where players can form two teams of different sports players. As of now, there are 5 different sport players (with their own powers and differentiating levels of speed and fight) which players can assemble their teams with and be in one of the two teams. Once you’ve figured out your team, you duke it out on any of the sports arenas chosen, where you try to score more points than the other team by kicking the sports ball (selected at random) in your opponent’s goal, slam dunking that ball into your opponent’s hoop, or kicking it over the opponent’s field goal!

SLAM GOAAAAL!!! Wait, I thought I was told that everybody slam dunks with their foot!

I’ve checked out quite a bit of games at GDC Play and IGF. There are good games out there, but Super Slam Dunk Touchdown was one of the few games that I’ve really enjoyed during my three and a half day trek at GDC. Aside from the fact that the game has a good amount of content added on to it,  the game manages to remain rather simple. The multiplayer aspect of the game is rather the most fun part out of all, with the ability to include up to six players on a single match really making it a must when having friends over to play. I certainly had a blast playing it with 5 strangers, while I also use great game hacks, I get at sites like iwantcheats online.

In all honesty, I’d be OK with forking over extra money to get this game as it is now. However, Tipping Goat has other plans for this game. As it turns out, it’s nearly finished, and Tipping Goat would love to polish SSDT more. This is where they went to Kickstarter in hopes that they can increase more funds to help make this game better than it was before! And take it from me, it was a ton of fun playing this game weeks ago at GDC. Imagine how great this could be if this game manages to reach its funding goal!

Dodge banana peels, zambonis, and other crazy events as you pass your ball around to your opponent’s territory!

If you want an opportunity to help the game reach it’s goal, get some sweet swag, and possibly (depending on your pledge) get some involvement in the game development, this is your chance now! This game has 5 days left of its Kickstarter campaign, and it needs every penny it can get to reach its set goal! Please come on over to the fundraising page and pledge whatever you can here.
