Terry Randolph – Wonderful 101 (Wii U), Horizon: Zero Dawn, Overwatch (Playstation 4)

After having borrowed the game for 2 years, I’ve finally beaten Wonderful 101. I can’t quite understand why it’s taken me so long to beat the game because I’ve honestly had a great experience playing the game. The variation of gameplay, the learning curve demand to pick up mechanics, easter eggs, and many secrets make it fun to traverse through levels. The gameplay can be frustrating at times, but it’s also equally forgiving; if players die before finishing off a boss, they’ll continue the fight with the boss’ health at the level they had already whittled it down to. Definitely a gem to pick up and play on the Wii U if you’re still looking to add games to your library.

Overwatch continues to suck me in more and more, and with the new Uprising event they have going on, I’m having a hard time playing Horizon: Zero Dawn. I’m going to have to try and find a balance between the two games since I need to finish Horizon: Zero Dawn to get a review out, and I want to keep playing the Overwatch competitive scene. Hopefully by this week I can get an idea of how to balance the two out. Otherwise, it’s been a great time for me gaming wise because i think I’m starting to find that balance I needed between life and playing games. Hopefully it continues this way!

Jake Rushing – Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild  (Switch), Xenogears (PS1)

I am still infatuated with Breath of the Wild. I am determined to finish this game, as it’s so fun to explore, and even a month and a half after starting this game, i am still learning new things about this game. This is a game that keeps on giving for me.

I have yet to go to the Gerudo area, but i have completed all of the shrines outside the Wasteland/Gerudo area (which turns out there are 104 shrines total). I was also aiming to complete all of the side quests, but i realized that these side quests aren’t significant enough, so i decided to ditch the sidequest and focus on other quests that matter more. Although i have started on a couple of side quests that required me to go to the Gerudo area to help complete the side quests, so I’ll work on finishing those once i reach the desert area. I also completed almost all of the memory spots,  except for the spot that, based on the picture, is based in the desert. So I’ll work on all of the Gerudo stuff when i get around to playing Zelda again.

I have never touched Xenogears since Switch and Breath of the Wild came to my living room. I am more than halfway done with the game last time I’ve checked, so I’ll try and get back into the game this week.

Ben Fitzgerald – Baldur’s Gate 2: Shadows of Amn (PC)

I have finally returned to the Sword Coast, and I was pretty much immediately blown away by how much bigger and better this game is in almost every way to its predecessor. It really reminds me how old the original Baldur’s Gate was. This is much more like Planescape: Torment and the Icewind Dale games, both in terms of presentation and playing. The storyline is bigger and better, the characters more thoroughly developed, the scope richer and bigger.

I do miss the thrill of the open-world exploration the first game made possible, as the rest of the Infinity games are more linear in their approach. That does not mean that Shadows of Amn is really linear, as there are dozens of objectives and quests that can be approached in many different orders.

I’m still a long way from finishing the game, so I’m not going to try to give a full review of this game here. But damn! This is awesome!
